    FS: @eBay - 1973 911S with 2.7 RS spec MFI and original 2.4 block

Well gang I have taken the plunge and listed my 73 S Sunroof Coupe on eBay.

    Edit> New eBay listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...62a628&vxp=mtr

The Pac West R Gruppe members are very familiar with the car I am sure can attest to its capabilities and aesthetics. Personally, the car is a real screamer, and has been refurbished to a very high level. It did not have a nut and bolt restoration, but all the major components, body, paint, drivetrain, interior, trunk, engine, have been lavished with attention. I have $90K invested in a car purchased in 2001.

    Listing text:

    1973 911S Sunroof Coupe

This 1973 911S (9113301387) is nearly 95% concours, and an excellent quality presentation good enough to be shown without reservation or excuses. The west coast car is 100% rust free with no accident history.

Power Plant: The ‘73S is powered by a very strong 2.7 Carrera RS spec motor professionally built on ’74 U.S. Carrera RS case (911/93), fueled by a ’73 RS MFI. This motor has been balanced/blueprinted and is bullet proof with a turbo oil pump, Carrera chain tensioners, advanced oiling and more. All engine metal was re-anodized and the motor presents as new.

Transaxle: It features Quaife torque sensing Limited Slip Differential, with a solid shifting 915 gearbox.

Factory options: Full tinted glass, full leather interior, power roof, power windows, through the grill fogs, engine light, and AC (not installed). Also included: The original tool kit, jack, owner’s manual, and service book in their original red vinyl jacket.

Exterior: The ‘73S has undergone a windows-out bare-metal re-spray in the original Gran Prix white and is flawless. All exterior rubber and seals were replaced during paint. The floor pan was not touched and is completely straight. New H4s and Euro lenses front and rear compliment the exterior.

Interior: The newly reupholstered black leather seats with black and white hounds-tooth inserts beautifully compliment the Gran Prix white exterior. This combination must be seen. To enhance the forward view, a German sourced dash was fitted while the original instruments were re-faced to like-new condition. Looking out, a new SIGLA German windshield was installed. To complete the package, the steering wheel was recovered and double-wrapped. In the rear view, a new rear parcel shelf was fitted while the original seat pockets were reworked for proper fitment.

Performance: This ‘73S will blow the doors off all stock ‘72 and ’73 Ss. It possesses outstanding torque through the entire rev-range and has a conservatively estimated 215 hp (compared to the stock 190). The S has oversized torsion bars with LSD that aggressively puts the power down. The S sits at Euro-height, is corner balanced, and challenges the corners like it is on rails.

Misc. Mileage: 114,500. The matching numbers 2.4 S block (6339134), front over-riders, AC, standard torsion bars, and sugar-scoops included with the sale. Two extremely nice “7X15” Fuchs available at extra cost for a more aggressive staggered stance.

In Sum: This well prepared 1973S not only presents beautifully on the show field, but also possesses the performance to more than best the competition.

Thanks to all for their suggestions on sales. Now we shall see how she goes.

    Seller's text . . .

. . . I am offering for sale an excellent driver quality car which is equally at home with spirited drives as at car shows. My ownership philosophy is to not only maintain the car at a very high level but also drive it as it was conceived, as a performance car. This car has always been garaged and never smoked in . . .

. . . As you are aware, the S is one of 2,355 911Ss produced in 1973 (coupes and Targas). Per the COA this heavily optioned west coast car came equipped with full tinted glass and new SIGLA windshield, full leather interior (with hounds tooth inserts), sunroof, through the grill fog lamps, rare engine light, oil cooler, stabilizer bars, power windows, and air conditioning (not installed but available). The car has the original tool kit, jack, owner’s manual, and service book in the original red vinyl jacket . . .

. . . In June 2006 the car underwent a comprehensive windows out to bare metal repaint in the original special order Gran Prix white. The full time disassembly, paint work, and reassembly took six months. All body rubber replaced at that time as well as any item not meeting the standard of the paint. Lighting was enhanced with Euro spec H4s with 80/100 blubs and Euro front and rear lenses. The original U.S. spec sugar scoops will be included in the sale . . .

    . . . The west coast 911S (9113301387) has zero rust . . .

. . . While the car was disassembled the numbers matching 2.4 S motor (6339134) was removed and stored. The transmission was thoroughly gone through and a Quaife limited slip was fitted to help put the power down. Discussing the rebuilding options with the 2.4 S, I elected instead to have a new 2.7RS spec motor built using the 2.4 S cams, stacks off the 2.4. When the 2.7 RS spec was built on a ’74 Euro RS case, all potential weaknesses were addressed. The motor was balanced and blueprinted. A turbo oil pump was added, as well as Carrera tensioners, and turbo valve covers. The car also has a highly desirable 2.7 RS MFI unit. A Pertonix unit was added to the distributor for ease of maintenance and reliability. The car puts out a very healthy 220 flywheel hp, is completely mechanically sound and needs nothing. The matching numbers 2.4 S block will go with the car . . .

. . . The suspension was upgraded with adjustable spring plates, a one size increase of the torsion bars, and a bump steer kit to give the car excellent cornering presence. All rubber bushings were fitted with the stock Porsche units. The car sits at “European ride height” . . .

. . . To match the beautiful exterior all interior items were replaced or refurbished. A new German dash was sourced, the instruments were completely refurbished and a new rear parcel shelf was fitted. The original leather front seats were completely restored with new leather and black and white hounds tooth sitting inserts per COA. The steering wheel was refurbished and the leather surface was ‘double wrapped’ to yield a better grip. The original carpeting was replaced with a light weight Perlon. The original retractable seat belts have been replaced with more modern units for better safety; however the originals will go with the car. The 911S currently is fitted with a “radio delete” preferring the symphonic sound of the mechanically inject flat six, however upgraded stereo speakers live under the perforated dash speaker grill . . .

. . . The nits: Aesthetic considerations mandated that the front bumper over riders to be removed. They will be included with the sale. Due to the previous owner, the 15X6 Fuchs are not date coded to the car. There is a remote cold start switch under the dash which also acts as theft deterrent . . .

. . . Driving impressions: I am not impartial when I say this car does everything very well. The 2.7 Carrera RS derived motor accelerates hard and pulls willingly up to red line. The motor has gobs of useable torque and makes just the right wailing sounds at high RPM. The suspension is quite nimble with excellent road feel. Cornering is substantially enhanced by the Quaife Limited Slip. This particular car’s setup always brings a smile. The interior surrounds the driver with 70’s Teutonic luxury with a beautiful fit and finish. The car has never been tracked . . .

. . . This is an extremely nice example however it is not a perfect concourse car. That being said, it would not take very much to get there . . .

    . . . Extensive receipts since assuming stewardship . . .

Thank you for advertising your car here. It looks like a beauty --- and I wish you the best-of-luck w/ its sale
