I've used Thomas Sunday and FedEx Passport twice each. Excellent service and pricing from both.

I've used Intercity several times from west to Virginia, always with good results.

Insurance Make sure the carrier has enough coverage for your car. If he hauls 6 or 7 cars the insurance pool gets smaller. Keep away from GYPSY truckers and cheap brokers.

I used intercity Maine to pittsburgh, was a very good experience
Not me, I'm not an intercity fan. Used them a few times, and then, the one time I had a time requirement, my wife was turning in her leased car, and we bought a pre-owned modern, daily driver, I booked transport 3 weeks ahead for a quick east-coast (ga to ny) trip with intercity, they said no problem, we will pick it up in 3 days. I'd call on the 3rd day, and they would tell me they had a short delay, but would pick it up within the next few days, this went on for 19 days, on the 20th day, I flew down and picked up the car and drove it home.
All this time, I was talking with the owner, bob sellers, in the end, I was upset, and swore I'd never use them again.
Most recently, I've used Thomas Sunday, with great results, everything as promised and fair rates.

Gypsy truckers? Sounds like a racing team to me.
Lots of gypsy tears there.

I did an article for Vintage Motorsport a few months back. Make sure they have cargo insurance - not just liability. Get a copy of the insurance policy from the insurance agent - not the trucking company.
You can also get the DOT number and look up the specific truck on line. It will have a record of any and all violations for the past few years.
