Hi guys, new to this site, but don't have an early 911. What I do have is something off my car (912E, please be nice, or it might affect the asking price!) that is more suited for your cars as I will never put this back on my car. I doubt very seriously that this aluminum lid was put on my car at the factory, but you never know, it did have 4-5 layers of paint with the first coat being the correct original color of the car (Silver Metallic).
I have this on Pelican Parts also, but thought I'd list it here too, as I'm finding out from guys, the aluminum lids were mainly put on 911S's. Correct?
Being new to this site, I don't want to ruffle any feather by putting a link to the ad on Pelican, so I'm just going to re-do the ad here. For future reference, OK or not to provide links to other sites?

Well, I thought about keeping this for sometime, but that time has come with an opportunity to buy another car.
I stripped this lid as far as I want to go, the back will remain as-is (better to NOT get the paint stripper in the seams I'm told).
There is some creasing on the bottom 2" of the lip. Someone didn't know or care about prying up the lid to open it when I bought the car (912E).
(Hell, I didin't know it was aluminum for many years, it was under a car cover and tarp for that long.)
I will have to take more and better pictures as the flash doesn't show the bottom edge too well.
Also, everthing above the lower 2" is pretty much pristine, it's just the swirl marks of the abrasive pad used to get the paint stripper residue off. Really looks nice, but strange how a possibly 30-40 year old ALUMINUM lid (just looking at them causes dings, ) gets damaged by some bozo, and yet the other 95% of it looks immaculate.
I've researched CRAZY amounts some have asked for these, and I'm not looking to do that, but at the same time, I've had guys offer crazy little that makes you feel like they're hoping you're a sucker, or are looking to flip it themselves.

So I'm sure the rules here are the same as most other car sites in that you must list a price for what you're selling, so go easy on me, please. Worst is I can say no, but will probably go lower. A little. I've already had guys rant that these decklids are NOT worth the weight savings vs cost, and that it's probably just a regular steel lid.
Yeah, always fun getting emails from those guys!
I will do my best to get more pics up and answer any legit questions you have or that I can answer. However, I'm no expert on these lids.
Thanks in advance,
Bob
