    Engine holding fixture

I will be dropping my engine this winter for a general cleaning, check tensioners, valve adjustment and re-seal valve covers. I want to put it on an engine stand and I have read I need to buy the engine stand holding fixture. This thing is quite expensive and seeing my limited use is it really necessary, can I get by safely without it. Thanks.

My dad and I dropped his engine in his 1971 Porsche 911e and set the engine on a wooden dolly, it's been sitting there for over 3 months and it seems to be fine. You should be fine in my opinion.
