    Red cars

As if we needed yet another topic to discuss...

I have talked to no fewer than 10 Porsche collectors/accumulators/hoarders/dealers in the last couple of months who all rolled their eyes and let out exclamations of disgust when I mentioned I was looking at a couple of red early 911's. What's up with that? You would have thought I was calling their wife or kid Satan's spawn.

Were they scarred and jaded by the 80's when everything with a P on it was painted Guards Red and just can't get past it? Ruby, Signal, and Polo Red are not the same.

I could care less about what others think of a particular color I like unless it drastically affects resale value; then it becomes incredibly personal.
I understand Red isn't a premium color like it was back in the disco era but is there really a knock for it currently?

Please keep in mind this is a subjective survey for prospective buyers who are currently looking for a car. If you own a Sepia Brown car I would ask that you simply spectate as I firmly believe that you could be color blind and have no idea what I'm talking about.

My '70 911T is a variation on red, namely its factory colour of Dunkel Rot (dark red) metallic, paint code 8181-H

    OK frank

I will bite on this Frank. I believe Polo red is NOT included with this group of reds. Polo is a unique color of itself and as period perfect as Irish green. It has been strikingly apparent that Red Porsches take much longer to sell. Having said that, if a seller of a 1973 911 S is asking $150K for a nice car, he WILL sell it, regardless if it's red or sepia. Good luck on your "red" SWT ...

    That dog won't hunt.

Red cars take longer to sell?

You're obviously delusional. If Steve McQueen's car had been Sepia Brown it would have sold for no more than $90k. Tops.

Frank, as nice as this car is...It never gets the attention that a Tangerine or Conda/Viper green car of the same year/model gets....Personally, I don't get it, however I've always thought of this car as the 'bastard step-child' of my collection, even tho it probably is the nicest of all of them.....
IF it were a more unusual color, people would FAWN over it. As it is, it just kind of flies under radar for most....
