    Targa top police....help please

    Hi -

    I'm restoring a 2.2s targa, built Sept 70 MY 71

    My question is about the 'correct' vinyl for the top. There are two types, a smooth and a much more heavily textured. I think that the smooth was the first vinyl and it was replaced around the time my car was buit.

    So I was wondering if anyone who has an original targa top around the same age as mine would mind posting some pictures of what they have so I can get a feel for what could be 'right'

    Unfortunately the Porsche Classics team have said that there are no records for when the changeover occurred, but confirmed that the smooth type was the earlier type of vinyl used.

    Any clues much appreciated.

    My Targa was an October '70 build. When I did my research I found that the top should have the smoother finish. It seems that the change was made for the 2.4
    cars.

    Great, many thanks, it confirms my own suspicion.

    Next question.....any ide if anyone is doig the smoother vinyl tops so I can refirbish mine?
