    Question Flasher unit location

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum (although been cruising for a long time anonymously). I'm the fortunate owner of 2.7 RS #0270 and I'm currently having problem with all flashing lights (not working at all). After looking into the fuse box, where everything looks fine, I'm thinking the default is coming from the Turn signal/emergency flasher unit but I can't locate it (I'm a super newbie in mechanics needless to say ). Anyone could help me locate it ? Is it possible to change it by myself ?

    Many thanks.

    Nicolas

Pull your fuel gauge out, it is behind it. Easy to pull out and put a new one in.

Thank you so much for your prompt answer. I have the relay in my hands now. Is there an easy way to check that the relay is broken ?

it sounds like it may be the flasher relay
it is a square black Hella relay TBB44 (I use Porsche part 914 618 303 11 I think - or at least that is on the box with my spare ones)

it is easily accessible (at least on RHD cars) from inside the front luggage compartment on the RHS up behind the dash

from memory there are 2 relays there - i think one is red and round the other is this one which is slightly closer to the middle of the car.
I usually access it by pulling back the carpet but dont have to remove anything

it is a easy pull it out and press the new one in (it goes into a round relay holder)
the vision is a bit difficult but it is easy after the first time when you have to feel around to align the pins correctly

Thank you, Hugh. My relay is actually behind the fuel gauge as David indicated. I don't know how to check this part so I'm going to order a new one (it is Hella relay TBB 26) and hopefully this is the cause of the malfunctioning.

Shame on me I changed the flasher relay unsuccessfully. I asked a Porsche mechanics to look into it and in two seconds, it was working properly. It was a bad connection of one of the fuses (I checked the fuses but clearly not in a satisfyingly way)...

Live and learn. At least the flasher is inexpensive.
Hugh, although you can do it from behind, it is much easier access from the front. Oops! that doesn't read as intended.
