    Sportomatic brake question

I've owned a few 2.4 Sportomatics (there goes my credibility with Frank) and all have had S calipers. Ive seen a lot, as well. I believed all 2.4 Sportos came with S calipers. But I saw the ex- Bruce Anderson '72 Sporto yesterday and it had iron calipers.

Was it just a coincidence that every other one I've seen had S calipers?

I thought S brakes were part of the "package"...

Yes, I believe all Sporto's came with S brakes. Very unusual to have cast iron calipers; were they M or A? The A caliper would fit on the S strut, but M calipers would indicate the 'wrong' suspension.

Glad to see I'm not alone in my belief these Sportos came with alloy calipers.

Dave, I just glanced at the brakes. The car is at TRE at the moment. It was a Sepia 72 Sportomatic and my former '72 Sepia Sportomatic is a couple hoists over. I'll check it out next time I'm there...

I wonder if the spec changed at some point.

John, no the 1968 would not have the aluminum calipers, but does it have the vented rotors (911S calipers)?

1968 S Sporto has vented rotors, '68 T Sporto has solid... neither came with aluminum calipers.

My ROW 69T originally a Sporto with the S appearance package.....vented fronts with S alloy calipers.

I was under the opinion that it was part of the S appearance package?

I'm not sure if these are original to the car, but judging from the rest of the car I would assume that the PO didn't upgrade them.
