I had the outside quarter window trim re-chromed for my 1967 coupe. I then started to look at its installation. The trim piece has brass studs and the parts manual specifies "speed nuts" over the studs. I purchased currently available speed nuts which are round metal something covered with rubber. I tried to test fit these fasteners and figured that if I got them on and tight that I would never be able to remove them if I ever need to remove the trim piece.

After trying various ideas, I discovered that a US 10-32 die would cut nice threads on the brass studs. I used flat stainless washers and stainless nylon-lock nuts to secure the trim pieces. Perfect, will not rust and is easily removable
