    Para Connoisseur de Corvair

My friend and colleague at Engineering News Record, which by the way is one of the oldest publications in the United States, is Tudor Van Hampton. He's a slick writer of all things construction but is also a hard-core car guy who has been contributing to The New York Times and other automotive pubs. He's really good and, he's a really good guy too. I know some of you will enjoy this. He recently got this Corvair but I have infected him with early 911 and I can see the wheels turning in his head -- kind of sad to see -- just a matter of time now.

I had one just like that one, and my Granny had an earlier model black with red interior she taught me how to drive in. The oversteer in any Porsche is docile in comparison. Wicked but fun.

The Corvair was the best winter car I ever had. Poor Man's Porsche. The serpentine fan belt wasn't such a good idea.

I've never seen a 911 fan on a Corvair. The racers used an electric fan. There was a 911 Weber carb conversion. A 180HP Turbo with 140HP Corsa big valve heads could make some good power.
