    Martini painting

    Hi guys.

Firstly, apologies for posting on a US-based thread, but I am struggling to find the pantone colours for the Martini stripes. Or any official colour codes for the stripes. They are for a white car. Can anyone help?

Also, if anyone would happen to have a contact in the UK that does the Martini stripes paint job with correct logos then I'd be very happy! My initial enquiries have resulted in far too expensive quotes.

    Kind regards

There was a thread around here somewhere where the colors were discussed. Problem was the colors evolved over time. The obvious one is the change from silver to white, but the red got more orangy with Lancias. I think the concensus was Guards Red, Mexico Blue, Silver, and perhaps Dalmation Blue?

If you get in touch with Harvey Weidmann he will be able to tell you. He researched the colors before painting his car in a sliver Martini scheme.

Thanks for the info, Flieger. I'll do some homework and look for Harvey, too.

It's nice to get some sensible repsonses from the likes of you guys on here and not silly quotes from those trying to take advantage of someone with something they actually don't really know about. If you get what I mean.

    Kind regards

Hi, the problem you will find is there is no real definitive colour codes, as has already been mentioned they changed over
the years dependent on who was doing them at the time. It's obviously mainly in the shade of red, light or dark and the
light blue, the lighter it goes ends up looking more like the Lancia schemes, the period ones seem much darker.

I went through all this with my Martini build which is documented on DDK below, everything on the car is in paint with
not a single decal anywhere, if you trawl through the thread the actual painting is well documented. Hope that helps.

This famous factory 917 is the car that I worked from as it's renown as having the most original paint. If you look at the
colours on the roof you'll see where I got mine from. Then a few more just to show some different colour variations.

Then here's Porsche latest offering, they must know best but compare that with the 917 at the top!

    wow that looks great .

if you have the file to make the decals you can also use it to make a mask to paint the colors,

PS.....I did not look at Mikes build to see if thats what he did , its just something my buddy did on his race car....

Wow. Some nice examples there. Mike, your one looks good!

I think I saw a new 991 special edition Martini racing car outside Porsche Chiswick the other day. I think it was a new 991 - I was driving past and a truck blocked my view. I only assume it was an official special edition. I will contact them and ask.

    Thanks all your help, guys.
