Date of switch from Solex to Weber

Anybody have an idea of the date or chassis number where 1966 production switched from Solex to Weber?

The reason I ask is that I go the Kardex for my car, 304598, recently, and it shows a warranty issue in 1967.

I have been in communication with the original owner, not the one on the Kardex who, apparently couldn't find the money when the car was delivered.

I asked him about the warranty and he said that it was to replace the carbs from Solex to Webers.

My previous research indicated that the car had originally been delivered with Webers so I am intrigued with this new information!

If anyone can shed any light, I would be grateful.

    Stephen,
I believe that the switch from Solex to Webers occured in february/march 1966.

First Weber carbs were used on engine number 907001 (February, 1966).

I always chuckle when I hear someone say "this or that happened 40-50 years ago".

I can't say that I disagree: but he was quite insistent though no paperwork to back it up! I thought it was unlikely as all my research showed that the car came with Webers as original... thanks to all the replies who confirm my initial thoughts!

    You are correct though.

February (22nd ) Webers were introduced on engines starting w/ 907001 (of course it's all around that date / engine number. It didn't come in sequential order that specific).

The first Weber car was 305101 (with engine number 907001 indeed). All cars before that were Solex cars.

I thought I found the engine number from a good source (and was feeling pretty dumb for posting erroneous info) but when I double checked my spec book before posting I turned to page 55 and didn't check pages 6 and 7.

I'm now confused, certainly a block of production numbers were assigned for "types" and not all allotted numbers were used by actual end items. There is a mismatch in engine numbers for the last of the Solex cars: page 55 states 903360 through 903910 but on page 7 the engine numbers provided are 903551 through 907000...why the disconnect?
