    1973 911 RS/"RSL", ex Leo Kinnunen

While strolling at the OGP 2013 at the Nürburgring, I stumbled onto this car.

Infos according to the windshield papers:

"Chassis 9113601177, built in April 1973 for works driver Leo Kinnunen. Car planned for exercising (übung) for the 1973 "1000 Lakes" Rally in Finland. Planned as a true RSR and built with original RSR wheelarches, Kinnunen ordered the car instead with a factory tuned "RS lightwheight" 235hp engine and a special "RS lightwheight" brake system (i.e. not 917 type). REPA belts, MATTER Cage and 80% locked differential. Kinnunen assisted on the factory development and Porsche wanted the car equipped with the new rear spoiler. Unique car, a mixture of RS and RSR/1974 RS 3.0. First factory built 1973 911 with this type of rear spoiler (MY 1974). Today 60232 km, matching, never restored, mostly w original paint. Car is kept exactly as built 1973 by the Competition Dept. at the factory".

Very cool car! Imagine that thing at full throttle down the Ouninpohja stage...

Looks like it is still in Finland based on the license plates, but I didn't know that they have personalized plates there.

    Isn't that actually a '75 spoiler?

there was a post about this car some time ago that drew from a magazine article about a decade ago. It said that this car was specially built by Competition Dept for works driver Leo Kinnunen. Special details include RSR wheelarches and tea-tray rear spoiler. This type of spoiler was chosen because Kinnunen took part of testing and developing it.

that looks like what is written on the paper that is also photographed with the car

So the "75" flat spoiler is actually considered a '74 because that's when it was introduced in Europe. Correct?

Thanks for posting photos and information of this very interesting Carrera. Very cool car. I wonder if the speedo is original. By April '73 these cars were being built with 300 KM/HR speedos.
