Early 911 Tool Kit Identification, Please.

What year 911/912 would this tool kit likely come from? Also what is the purpose of
the red handled Split-end screwdriver? Thanks for any info!

Charlie, I have split end screwdrivers like that I bought from MAC Tools 35 years ago, I don't even think they make them any more. They are for locking onto slotted screws so you can start a screw into an otherwise inaccessible hole. Great for r&r ing air correction jets without removing the tops,,,as an example.

The one my father gave me from his old Craftsman stuff years ago mine has a little slip collar that you slid down the shaft to get the of the screw driver started in the slot...then you pulled the slide up the shaft and it locked the screw driver in the slot....mine still works great for those certain little odd jobs...never knew Klein made one..probably better quality than my old Craftsman...nice find !

Thanks for the comments!! I don't know alot about 911/912 tool kits although I have several besides the one pictured. I've had this one for many years and figured it was a conglomeration of tools from other sources. I've never seen a screwdriver like this and even though it is a Klein screwdriver, was not sure it was from Porsche. Would also be interested to know more about the Hazet wrenches that are in this kit as well as the other tools. Would like to sort out what's Porsche and what's not. Thanks,

That looks like a mid 1973 kit. I have seen similar kits in cars built March to June 1973, although there doesn't appear to be an exact date range. My screwdriver (May 73 car) is a red handle with reversible Phillips/slotted shaft. Don't know about the Hazet wrenches. The standard ones are the Selected Special Steel I think.

And I also have a slotted screwdriver that I "borrowed" from my dad 30 years ago. Very handy.

The Hazets are good tools, just not factory original.
