    '73 911E: is something missing here?

    While preparing to replace the hood struts on our '73 E, I decided to do some clean-up in the rear of the trunk area. The photo shows a circular hole that appears as though it might have once had a plate or cover or whatever on it at one time. Problem is: we are original owners and this area has never been opened up, at least we don't believe that the cardboard panel covering this area has ever been removed in he past).


    Is a cover or something else missing in this area?

    As a "side note" check out the washer and bolt stuck in the factory seam sealer in the bottom of the "cubby" area: apparently a gift from an assembly line worker.

    Perfect, Andy! Thanks a lot... that thread answers it all. That explains why there appears to be some residual adhesive around the edge of the hole, where the cardboard piece was glued in place.
