    New to me. Couple of early questions

    Hi Everyone. My new 1971 T is safely tucked into my garage. I'm so excited I can't stand it. I am sure I will have many questions in the future, but here are the first few. I have learned that my car does not have the correct engine code. The engine code is correct for the model and year, but my car is a coupe and the engine code is for a Sporto. I've also learned that my car does not have the original color. The code is 8888-H which I believe is gold metalic. My car is base silver. My car is also fitted with Webers. Assuming the paint was done to a high standard, and the Webers were properly installed, do these changes have a significant impact on the value of the car?

    I realize there are many other variables. Thank you in advance.

    As with my car, some 1971T came factory equipped with Webers (and not Zenith).
    As for values, it all depends on how the car is currently in shape. Color might not has a big impact, a non-matching engine does.

    But since you just got the car: enjoy it, drive it and just forget a little bit the value.

    Enjoy the car and make it what you want it to be.

    Whatever you do to it, do it well and the value will always be there.

    Hi Don,

    Your car may have been fitted with a Sporto originally and someone along the way took out that transmission and put in a 5 speed box, this is very common. Do you have a Certificate of Authenticity for the car? If not you might want to order one. They are often wrong concerning options, but are mostly correct for engine serial numbers.

    Hi Brian;

    I just picked up the car so I'm working through all the details. Apparently there is a box of records at the original owners daughter's house. I'm trying to get my hands on it. I don't know if it was originally a Sporto. I'm planning to spend a bunch of time under and around it this weekend. If I'm able I'll post some pictures for everyone to see. Thank you very much for the replies today.
