    Widened my garage by 32"

    I am quite fortunate in that my garage measures 25' wide by 35' deep, which is enough to easily store 4 cars. Unfortunately there is an intermediate supporting wall at the back of the garage that makes things rather tight, so I decided to widen it by 16" on either side.

    Had to cut the concrete block walls using a diamond masonry cutting saw, and then create grooves that would accept the two pieces of 3/8" by 4" by 6" angle iron that would extend the structural I beam onto the remaining section of wall.

    Today I had a mobile welder come in to weld the 10" overlapping joint where the angle iron supports the I beam.

    Here's an idea of what I did. Pardon the mess as this work create quite the chaos not to mention clouds of dust.

    Tomorrow I'll remove the temporary posts as I am waiting for the non-shrink grout to fully cure, as it takes the load under the angle iron pieces:
