Is this rear deck lid release handle right?

It's in my '68, which has the deeply recessed cavity in the door latch panel as compared to the shallower later style. Is this release handle right for SWB, or did someone improvise here? If it's not right, what is it supposed to be for?

I would expect to see a t-handle. Maybe that is a Trabant manual windshield wiper crank?

Hmmmmn, I was thinking of more like the size and shape of a knob such as used on the headlight switch.

Yeah, that's what his part looks like, I thought he was asking what the cable knob should be!

If that knob is the same thread pitch as the factory release T handle then that would be a very inexpensive 'Sports Purpose' touch on a car. (AKA: Satanic Detail)

Yeah Mike, I know what you're thinking,,,,,sports purpose,,,,lightweight,,,,doesn't have those 'heavy' wings on it!
