    fuel door release mechanism (1967)

The release for the fuel door...is it spring loaded?
I know the door is, but what (if anything) retracts the release after the knob is pulled? (no details in the parts books). Thansk

What? There is more than one "John Thompson" around these parts? I've Googled my name and the other guy pops up. He even has a Porsche. No I haven't coached for Georgetown either.
Attached is a pre-redo of my latch. From what I remember, the springy thing was a pain to compress and to get this all back together.
