Where does this air snorkel hose go?

I have never seen the smaller tube on the snorkel connected to anything but here's a photo of one. Where does the hose connect?

There should be a corresponding fitting in the engine compartment sticking up just behind the filler tube on the right side. Never understood the purpose of taking in air from that location (warmer?), 912s use the same location for their setup.

Right longitudinal, fed by the right HE, to increase air density on cold mornings/climates for smoother running.

Here we go, a picture not often seen. With the inner rear wing removed on this 2.2S we restored you can see the pipe that the foil pipe connects to. It takes warm air as a permanent direct feed from the heater system.

The pipe from the snorkel is foil? Post #1 looks like rubber. How necessary in Calif?

You can still purchase it from Porsche and it is a paper foil hose like the rest of the heat system.

Do you need it in CA? If it runs a little rough on cold early mornings and you find that your carbs are running a little lean, fitting the hose may solve your problems.

The Porsche engineers were rather tricky for there day, a lot of induction problems can/have been solved by going back to stock.

I'll be darned. I always thought that was an air suction scavenger from the oil tank system.
