Any way to research car history?

I used to own a 1970 911E. Vin # 9110200830. It would make you cry if I told you what I sold it for almost 20 years ago. It makes me cry, anyway. Possibly the cheapest running Porsche 911 sold in the last two decades. I kind of wonder what happened to it. I see from a google search that it was sold at auction in England in 1997: http://www.motorbase.com/auctionlot/by-id/57802610. I bought, drove, rebuilt the engine, and sold it in California from 1986 until the mid 90s. Any way to check what happened to it?
