    Cable Guide Bracket

Hi! The ear or ring cast on the differential side cover of my 911 (1971) is broken, it have worked fine with the simple aluminum sheet metal bracket fixed by one of the side cover nuts that the previous owner once made, but it really looks weak and I donīt trust it, so I would like to improve this. Is there any main strem solution to this? I don`t know if I like to spend all the money that for example the $440 Wevo transmission Side Cover for Magensium Die-Cast Casing with Bolt-On Cable Guide Bracket is. I want to buy or make an new adapter for this. Anyone that have some helpful input to this?

I wouldn't want to try to weld on that magnesium. I guess you could mill a bolt-on piece from aluminum.

Yes I also think some kind of bolt on bracket. First I thougt of repairing with zinc (remember I saw an article long time ago about that, found it again now, sorry itīs in swedish but that was for broken aluminum so I guess it doesnīt work for magnesium. Maybe useful for someone anyway: http://www.classicmotor.se/artiklar/...dning-med-zink ) Is there any ready bracket for this out there?, saw similar for the 915 tranny at pelican. Or do I just do something myself, diameter of the hole, how much clearance shall it be to the sleeve?

I think you want a XT-206 Clutch Cable Bracket from WEVO. Cost? $68.

That's for a 915...the 71 911 gearbox with its wacky push clutch need the guide tube mounted inboard of the side cover perimeter to keep everything lined up. A similar bolt on bracket would work. This one might work mounted bacwards... But the cable has to line up or there will be too much friction where the casing slides through the hole.

My car has the aftermarket extended sleeve insert which helps guide the casing straight... I can take a photo if you need it, but this diagram should help. The cable guide is directly above the bottom side cover nut.
