Current Tire Choices - What is your opinion or experience?

It's that time again; my pony's shoes are getting a bit thin... and I got a puncture during a recent outing and now have to find new rubber.... fast.

As with many of you, I am a big believer in Tire Rack's prices and ease of use. I bought a set of five B.F. Goodrich g-Force Sports in 205/60-15 from T.R. about 3 years ago, and they were both inexpensive and relatively good performers. Sadly, T.R. doesn't offer that tire in that size any longer... so I'm on the hunt for something new.

-I'm not married to Tire Rack as a supplier, nor that specific brand, nor that particular model of tire, but something similar is my target, e.g. very high performance, relatively quiet, relatively inexpensive. I'm willing to procure them from a different supplier, but have no experience with other online dealers, and don't have a favorite local dealer here in the SF Bay Area.

So what are your (current) recommendations for 205/60-15 performance tires? Avons? Michelins? Dunlops? Vredesteins? And, if you have a tire-of-choice, maybe also pass-along a trusty supplier for said tires.

A customer sent in some Goodyear Eagle GTs and I liked the looks of them so I ordered a set for my car.
They look like they are in the same category as the BFG's. I'll know more this weekend

I've been using Costco instead of tire rack. They can special order just about anything and they have high quality mounting equipment. I normally use Bridgestone on my cars. Although on my 73 I went to 16's to get newer rubber. Currently on RE11 Bridgestones and they are excellent. Ed Mayo likes the eagle GT's so they must be good.

They sound like a decent option, and like you said they're basically the same category as the BFGs. And you'd stick with 205/60-15 for deep 6's all around?

Slightly different size, but here are the Goodyear Eagle GTs on my fresh from Harvey rims. Took the recommendation of several on this forum.

First drive (of all time) is scheduled for Friday, so can't yet comment on their performance. As an aside, the place holder lug nuts have since been corrected.

I think Michelin tires remain the best. XAS on the 912 and very 1965 911 (more gentle on the drive train), XWX on the 1968 911S.

Lately I've been using Falkens, per my local tire guy (requirements was "grippy" and available in those sizes): ZE 912s to be precise. I first got them for my 912 (how appropriate, I should paint the 912 designation in white on the tire) in 205/60 and liked them, so I got the same model in 195/65s for the 911 because I like the feel of 195/65 a little better. They are a decent tire and dirt cheap to boot. If it makes anyone feel better Falken runs a Porsche team in the ALMS so it's not like they are unknown...
