    Dash Color

1973 911, what color is the black paint on the dash? Gloss, semi, flat, satin, ect ? Is Wurth a good match ?

Mike, I used polyurethane gloss black with a matting paste.

I looked at a few cars and ended up settling on a 'semi-gloss' effect, with a reduction in gloss of 30-35%. A lot of older cars' black interior paint is "flatter" than factory due to ravages of time/tobacco/sunshine... So my result looks a bit shinier than an unrestored car.

I think Wurth Satin is the closest to original.

Hi Mike, what paint did you end up using? We're you happy with the results?

David, what Wurth Satin Black did you use? I tried Wurth Flexi Trim Satin Black and it looks too glossy. Or perhaps my dash parts were that faded...

    Thanks a lot!

I used Krylon 1613 Semi Flat. Very close match.

I used Würth Satin Black Trim Paint on my '65 911's dash and it seemed like a pretty near-perfect match.

I can't guarantee that what I have is identical to what's for sale now or that a '65 dash was identical to a '73 dash, but there's a good chance.
