    1973 mfi engine information

Hi All i am looking for some advice
i have been offered a MFI engine from 1973 Porsche 911 E which is complete it has been sitting in a garage for around 10 years the motor still turns over .what i would like to know is are parts easy to find to rebuild these engines and how much is an engine like this worth (the owner has asked me to make him an offer but i don't really know what an engine like this would go for and i would like to offer a fair price)
i will post up the engine number tomorrow
    thanks

Engine and MFI Parts are around but they are expensive...

    What does the engine need?

    Hi execmalibu
as i said the engine is complete and does turn over but as it has not run for over 10 years i assume some parts will need to be refurbished or replaced
the engine number is 623 0581 .the owner said that it came out of a 1973 car . i am trying to decide what would be a fair price to offer .

I recently sold my 73E engine that was frozen for 8K. And I was a little sorry to sell it so cheap because I had 2.7 RS plans for it.
A 73E engine would not be a good candidate for your 66 if that is what you are thinking about. JMHO

    Hi Harvey
thank you for your reply . 8K for a frozen engine so what in your opinion would a engine that turns over be worth .i am not considering this for my 66 its just that where i live you don't get offered many Porsche engines so if i can pick it up for a fair price then i will . it would of course be better if the owner would just put a price on it .would there be much work in rebuilding it as a 2.7 .

What it is worth and what a fair price is to someone who doesn't need it are two very different things. I would try 3-4k and see their reaction. As far as you know, they may be happy with 2k.

Take into consideration that a good rebuild will cost about 12-15k.
