    Perhaps a New "Car" Hobby

Been interested in this stuff for quite a while and today a few of us got together and went to a "Big Truck Show". Chrome Mafia stuff if you're familiar.

I saw the 1st Detroit V12 I'd ever seen. Dual 6-71's on top. Nasty. These guys get the front ends lower than anything short of a track car. Use of hydraulics (on the bumper) allows them to raise and lower them to make it into parking lots. Interiors were phenomenal as were the paint jobs and attention to detail.

This is the look. One guy had a beauty making 1000hp (per the dyno). 5-6 mpg BUT will pull Afton Mountain with cruise set at 65mph and 80K behind it.

500-550 was the "run of the mill" mill today.

A couple more. The Detroit is a 2 cycle engine. They can really raise hell when the throttle is required. Note the 2 superchargers on top.
    These are 6-71's.

Not a "chrome" guy but would LOVE to see 200 more HP from my 515 Detroit 60.
In it right now heading to Circuit of the Americas.

It's just money. My buddy use to have a 379 extended hood with no telling how much $$$$ in chrome, hard wood floor, LED lights, etc, etc.

And yea, nothing sounds like an old Detroit two stroke. During harvest I use to drive my neighbor's IH with one hooked to a 10 speed. I use to like to make it "rack off" in every gear. Cool stuff!

Timely. There are a lot of cast off old work trucks from the '50s and '60s up here, moldering in the weeds. I don't need an old dump truck, but it sure would be fun to fix one up and hot rod it a bit.
