WTB: '68 Elephant Skin Toolkit and service record booklet

    Hello.

When I bought my '68, the toolkit and service record booklet wasn't available for sale with the car. I'm looking for '68 only elephant skin toolkit and service record booklet to complete my purchase. Please shoot me a p.m. If you have a spare for sale. Thanks in advance. T.

The elephant bag you are referring to showed up in a few cars in 68 and also in early 69 from everything I've been able to determine. Given the number of oddball toolkit bags I've seen/had/have it's not doubt from a run of vinyl that they ended up with from a supplier they were using when making the bags.

The MOST typical bag for 1968 is a smooth vinyl bag (with a leather type of look to the vinyl) with a putty colored interior.

    Good luck in your search!

I have a spare elephant skin bag with some tools in it. Yours for $300 to start putting together a complete kit. This offer is based on the condition that you won't re-sell or flip the toolkit for a profit and will convey it to the next owner should you need to sell the car. I think you'll find, if you can find one available, that it's worth much more than my asking price. I may also have an unused '68 service record in the deal for you, but I'll have to check the attic. Email me at acarreranp@gmail.com if you agree with the condition. Thanks.

Hi Andy. Thanks for a very generous offer. I just sent a counter offer for more than your asking price. WOW!! What a small world. I've met you and your daughter at Katie's Cars and Coffee before in your 964 convertible. I bought my '68 from Steve C. in Winchester based on your tip. I'm not far from Washington D.C. and would love to drive out to visit you. I'm looking forward to hear back from you. T.
