R.TR,ST Lightweight needlefelt carpet. Anyone ?

Has anyone reproduced the lightweight, unbound needlefelt carpet fitted in the R, TR , ST Sports purpose cars ?

I have been looking high and low for a supplier. Any leads greatly appreciated.
Have a NOS original piece kindly donated by a fellow board member, just need to find a match.

If it don't exist, i may have to get this reproduced !

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Dave

I have my original pieces plus a full set I made from templates taken from a full TR set using a carpet material I got from Southbound.....it is close but not identical......so to answer your question, I have not found identical material.

Sorry I only have a couple of photos because it is all packed up in the garage roof. (If you need more photos of original carpet there are some on pages 19 & 20 of my cars' thread).

As I said I made up a full set (including duplicate pieces to allow for LHD or RHD) together with the carpet headlining from a full set taken out of an original TR, however I have decided to just use my cars original carpet (basically all the front of the interior up to the base of the rear seats) and then just bare metal with the aim to keep the car as original as possible and avoid introducing new material which I feel is important the more I have researched.

Thanks for the effort Tim, much appreciated.

It is very difficult to ascertain if the piece i have is the same as your original material.? i checked your thread before i had posted Tim, but could not make out the pattern in your posts. It sure looks like the "waffle" like pattern on the parcel shelf in the hamilton TR.

I also matched it up to the parcel shelf in the 911R in the museum a couple of weeks back. Tim, Chris gave me this piece, does it compare to your original ?

Now, either i was dreaming, or Tom "Flunder" posted a reply earlier
Anyway, i assumed this material was different to the available Perlon RS type material.

Would just like to get this detail correct.

I think I am going to proceed with the reproduction of this, R,TR, ST lightweight punched needlefelt carpet. Like the seatbelt material, it has taken a while to find the right company to produce this for me. I hope to have the sample in the next month. Obviously I have had to meet a minimum order quantity from the manufacturer, so I will be looking to sell this material on the board to recoup my costs.

I would appreciate some feedback, any interest in purchasing and a reasonable price point. Please do not confuse this material with the readily available RS perlon. This is the correct punched pattern fitted in the pre-RS competition cars. As far as I am aware this is NLA anywhere.

Material roll width is, 2m. and is unbound. I will cut to your requirements. I do not intend to produce this on a regular basis. This will be the one and only batch produced. By me anyway.
