    the best source is john starkey's book Porsche 911 R-RS-RSR which lists all the chassis numbers, engine numbers, production number (secret number) and first owners as well as history for a lot of them.
    this website also lists the chassis numbers and some small amount of detail but does not come close to what is in the starkey book
