    Single Post Bulb Holder Question

Hey guys we were going through some boxes today and came across a couple variations of a single post bulb holder for taillights. The first bulb holder does not have a tab and fits within the housing perfectly, the second bulb holder however does have a side tab and will not fit within the housing.

What is this side tab on the second holder for? Any help you can provide is appreciated.

I don't have the answer, but if no one else chimes in I'll look at a housing tomorrow, the reason may be apparent then.

I think the one with the tab improves the grounding of the bulb holder to the housing. It puts a bit of pressure against the spring to force the connection.
