    WTB: W123 Mercedes 300TD Wagon 1979-84

As the thread title says, that is what I am looking for. These guys were referred to me by a friend of my uncle in CA.

Wow, talk about some really nice cars. Too rich for my purposes and I would hate to see one deteriorate with daily use. What I am looking for is something in between the concourse collectors examples there and the beaters you see on CL. And much less expensive too. Anybody know of a cream puff just collecting dust in someone's garage?

Hey Scott, I'll keep you in mind if I see a nice 300TD in my quest to find a nice W124 300TE. I go hot and cold in my search - I'm not actively looking every day, but I would like to get one at some point. And like you I'm not looking for one that's been restored, or a beater. Ideally a one owner car that's been well maintained. I missed, by a day, a really nice one owner, low miles example that was in Santa Barbara last year. I'll let you know if I see anything out this way, and please keep me in mind if you stumble across a nice TE.

Ah yes.... Birds of a feather do flock together, don't they Jim? I will keep my eye balls open for you. What years are the W124 cars? Seems the W123 TDs go fast. I mean really fffing fast like in our little world but at a lower dollar figure.

    I think the W124s were '85 through '95.

    Great minds think alike...
    I'm currently looking at a 2 owner '83 300TD sedan.

Seems like all of these are difficult to find with under 200k miles on them.

Coulda. woulda, shoulda .... this was in the garage with the Ray Allen 731-mile '73 911T. 1200 miles on the M-B. It could have been mine for $15K.

I had a 1985 300tdt. I loved that car though they rust (check metal around rear side windows) and the particulate matter, though not visable in my car, did create a asthmatic situation for my family and so it had to go.

Yep, and I hear they are being snapped up by Europeans. I also have a hankering for a 280SE 4.5, but that would not work as a good DD duty for my wife.

Curt, that car would fit the bill perfectly! Ya missed out, buddy.

When my oldest, Riley, turns 16 in a couple of years, that's my cue (read: excuse) to get an old Mercedes. He can drive the A4.
