I was also surprised. Seller must be buried in it.
And as someone who has dabbled in buying, refurbishing and selling vehicles (at a much lower level than this), I can't help but wonder why a dealer would buy an unfinished project, and then sink so much cash into it when the purpose is resale? That could have been a very nice, fun car even if the investment was cut in half. No need to put that much in it unless you wanted it for yourself. When sinking money into a car for resale, there is a point of diminishing returns. The BaT car was WAY past that point.

My first Porsche was a 914-6 in 76. Fun car, I built an injected 2.2 for it and later an injected 2.8. It had 4 R7’s, LSD special ratio side shifter, front cooler. Gordon

    Cool car.

The most fun 914 I've driven had a 2.2S with MFI, short gears, an LSD, and a square tire setup under M471 flares. I'm certain the cows could hear me laughing maniacally as I streaked through the countryside. That 2.2's noises were the best thing this side of a CGT, and up there with the best sounds I've heard in any air-cooled street car. Something about that injection pump just behind your head. Have wanted to do MFI, S cams, gears, and diff ever since…

The glossy finish and the bloated (too thick) silver shift pattern. Also the clear top on the repro's has almost a magnifying effect when viewed at an angle. Ok for a place holder until you can find a decent original one. Where are you located?

I just redid the stock seats along with a pair of Scheel 100’s for my 914. While they aren’t the perfect fit that the Scheel 114s are, they provide me with plenty of legroom so the 114s would have been overkill, even if I could have found a reasonable pair. If anyone knows if the 914 specific headrests from the Scheel 114 will fit in the Scheel 100 please let me know.

Here’s the seat redone in later 914 tartan, which is technically incorrect for ‘72 but I don’t care. It’s a hotrod and I’m picking and choosing the best pieces. I may even run a stock passenger seat and the Scheel as driver only (pictured below). Both seats have seat heaters so I can keep the top off later in the season.
