my understanding is that they are completely original and the seats would look fantastic against the original slate grey which can still be seen in the door jambs etc as the silver was only painted over the grey on the outside surfaces.
given the other pictures are posted I am sure the custodian of this car would not mind me posting a photo of the slate grey door jambs. You can see what it looks like against the brown part of the interior

if that is basket weave what i`m seeing i highly doubt that it came like this from the factory..BW it was introduced much later...are the seat backs perforated or not?perforated usually the case when pleats not fabric.
and yes unusual interior (and exterior) very often resulted in a delay of completion. nice car but the chrome trim is a bit awkward

Early 901 and 911ers,
What a great thread! Here is the interior of 300061 as we found it; we know it came with pepita and, as is often the case, it must have worn out and been replaced. In this case, with black and too many pleats. We suspect that 300475 also had its pepita center section replaced. Notice, how similar the interior colors are. Gulf908, do you have the Kardex or Reutter info. that tells you what interior (pepita) your car came with? Here are 475 and 061. Thanks.

Wow! Very cool! Question, did the '64 cars come with the buttons on the dash?

all
further progress on the seats - sort of
the C of A states - 'fawn and K/P plaid combo' interior and carpet grey
on my colour chart 5/65 I can only see 'K' meaning corduroy
I'm still none the wiser on the seats
the only guess I can make is they were an experiment pattern from the design department in the day
the seats and inserts certainly look factory originals due to the low mileage
does anyone have some scans of the '65 options booklet I can forward to the owner ?
pm for my e mail
TIA
