Crazy idea for a 959 trade.

Just talking about one day owning my dream car is meaningless. Today that changes.

    Will trade:

    '65 911 (300705) Signal Red. (Scheduled for Spring/Summer completion).
'67 911 coupe Light Ivory/Black, matching numbers. Two owner AZ/TX car. (Scheduled for Spring/Summer completion).
'70 911T coupe, Silver/Black, matching numbers. (Scheduled for Spring completion- see ad).
'70 914-6 Tangerine, 2.2S spec on orig case. (Same CA/AZ owner 33 years- scheduled for Winter '14 completion).

    or:

    Series 1 2.7RS.

Please let me know if you have an extra 959 lying around and want to trade.

    Thanks.

    E V E R Y T H I N G concerns me on a 959.

It would have to be the right car. You know how simple and economical our 911's are? I could not begin to fathom the expense of restoring a 959. Canepa has never even done a complete on one. (To my knowledge.)

We put a battery in a customer's 959 a couple of weeks ago. Even THAT'S a pain; should have done a video of it.

For those not familiar with this build, it's a good one. Roar is doing an amazing job.

    Wow.

    That guy is truly insane.

    Epitome of the principle:

"Look at the project in its entirety and you will be overwhelmed to the point of not starting it".

Head down, one foot in front of the other, attack it like a lion. His name is fitting.

Like eating an elephant, right Frank? One bite at a time... Good luck in your search - a very unique offer for sure.

Asked Roar (in the thread above) about this a couple of weeks ago. He said the electronics was not a main concern. It´s "80`s high tech", not 2013.
No doubt he will sort it out, but glad it´s not my challenge.. Looking forward to inspecting the car early next year. It´s truly an insane project!

Good luck finding the car of your dreams! If you succeed, Roar would probably be of great help if the car is not complete. He has been forced to recreate many parts simply not existing and has molds to make more if needed.

I always thought a 959 was a bargain - certainly compared to the pricing of the Ferrari f40 had. But then the f40 was so much more raw, which was more passion provoking.

I only know two people that bought 959's, and both if them had Canepas work in them. A little over 10 years ago, Bill Gates was going to sell me his, pre Canepas, and I went to see it. But it didn't excite me either then though I had idolized the car. His was quite the story getting into customs, sitting there for years, being keyed on the last day before being released, and cooking that engine to pass smog. I am not certain he truly was a seller then, and now he loves it.

    Still a great looking car.

Get an F40 instead. Each time I've gone to buy a 959, I've been disappointed by the car. I figure it's better left in the books on my shelves instead of my garage.

OT: Damon Josz has the best Paris/Dakar 959 "Replica" I've ever seen. I sheet you not.

All the other 959 PD knock-offs have been particularly lame in execution.
