72-73 grill with 2.4 2.7 badge anyone know what the part number for mounting plate

I just bought a shiny new 2.4 badge for my 73 grille and forgot about the mounting plate. The old one is no good with missing mounting posts. I can not find this as an individual part in any of my parts books. I can't find a part number, has anyone bought one of these mounting plates recently from Porsche?

Not available as a separate part. The plate was incorporated (welded?) between two of the grill members.

I'd think it was glued. Here's a NOS grill for 72-73. No weld points.

Mounting plate was not welded on. Two of the grill cross bars had 4 holes drilled in them and the mounting plate had 4 corresponding pins that fit in these holes. Glue may also have been added but I think they just pushed into the holes and then emblem attached. I am looking for a mounting plate also.

Ravi, that is a beautiful NOS grille, I would be so jealous if I did not already have one of my own.....

Now through pictures you can see that this is a conundrum. In these pictures you will see my NOS black anodized grille, it has no holes for the mounting plate.

Then you will see the new 2.4 emblem which has a hollow back missing a mounting part.

Then you can see my original grille with 4 mounting holes drilled into the grille, a missing procedure on a NOS grille!

Then in the next post you will see the old mounting plate. This plate has 4 small studs that went into the holes on the grill. The 2.4 badge was then stuck to the mounting plate through double sided tape.

I have to call out Porsche parts department on this one. WTF! There is no part or part number listed in the manual.

I had the same issue a few months ago on a '74 grill. Ended up fabricating a mounting plate.

Thanks Mark, that's a good lesson. The grill isn't mine. Just happened to be at the shop my car is being restored at. Didn't have a picture of my grill, but it is original and I bet it's got those 4 holes.

I do believe Frank at Nineapart had some complete badge assemblies when I was there in the spring.
