Thread: The passing of a friend

  1. #11
Frickin' Duane and that Polizei targa ... he used to roll into the parking lot at Treffen with the siren blaring ... scared me half to death the first time I heard him light it off while we were all hanging out having a drink. Nearly fell out of my chair...

HA! Good times and good memories.

The last few years have been tough for Duane and Charlie ... hopefully things get a little easier for them both.

Well stated Jack. Duane was bigger than life and overflowed with enthusiasm in all his endeavors, almost to a fault.

    He will be missed.

I laughed every time I was around Duane and loved his stories. Never had a phone conversation that lasted less than 30 minutes with Duane. Bigger than life personality and a hoot to be around. RIP.

He couldn't come along due to his health issues. R.I.P. buddy.
Shoot, I missed hearing those stories Curt. I can only imagine.

Yes, when I think of our great trip West, "Tour de la Ditch", I can't help but think about Duane. I will always remember his vividly descriptive, yet clandestine, emails about what he had in store for us. He delivered on those promises too. The stay on the south rim at the El Tovar is one of the highlights of my life. He will be missed for sure.

A good friend and customer. Mostly we talked about politics...and sometimes Porsches. He garnered some very special autographed photos for me.
He has already been missed at the gatherings he couldn't get to lately...now he will be missed more.

I met Duane when he showed that Viper Carrera RS at a Phoenix event about 7-8 years ago. I was pouring over every inch of it while he watched from a chair...and then he finally came up to me and asked if there were any questions he could answer for me. That opened the flood gates of a relationship as I did want to know all about the Kremer prepared RS, and as has been mentioned...when you opened the door for Duane to tell a story....it just keeps going...like the 'energizer bunny'. He was a great story teller, and he lived so many interesting experiences throughout his very full life. I am sad that he has passed, and my thoughts and prayers go out for him and Charlie.
