Raj- I didn't know the '72s were assembled at VW. Interesting. Wonder if there is any assembly differences between the 70/71 and 72 cars?

Thanks for that info Raj. Maybe now Cornypanzer will stop calling my 70 a boxy VW!

    Glenn,

Since you jumped in here I had a question regarding the number of factory M471 cars built. Are all of them listed on your site? How about the GT's? Thanks.

The M471s and GTs made by Porsche are all listed (on my website) as well as some dealer and privateer converted cars. Technically any car that is equipped with the race parts is a GT. I try and draw a line between cars that were built in the early 70s with the intent to race and car built with part just to call them a GT. Raj’s car is a good example former, not factory built but raced in IMSA and FIA in 1971

One of the differences is that the '72 914/6 models used the 4-cyl steering column - hence the ignition switch/steering lock is on the rh side as opposed to the '69-'71 914/6 models which have them on the lh side.
