Dash panel trim pieces: What material was orginally used?

What is the original material used for the trim pieces in a 1970 911? Is it anodized aluminum or possibly chrome plated brass?

The reason I ask is because the chrome has chipped off my trim piece by the ignition revealing what appears like brass (see photo below). Whereas the reproduction parts from suppliers like Sierra Madre are made from aluminum.

The answer to this question will determine how I go about improving the look of my trim pieces. Thanks in advance

Anodized aluminum....the "brass" coloring is most likely glue film.

Thanks Mark. Sure enough, it was glue residue, and now removed.
