    Radio Antenna?

Has anyone seen this undercar strap before? This is on a 73MY car. IT delivery and the tech thinks it is the radio antenna. The routing and age/condition of the car would indicate that it was attached to the original radio but that had been removed and replaced with a more modern unit; the old antenna however was left on place.

looks like an aftermarket 'ground strap' to eliminate the static shock one might receiver after rubbing their feet on person carpet and then stepping grabbing a piece or metal before stepping out of the car.

Lewis, that was my first thought as well. It touches the pavement when the car is on the road but the odd part is the end which fits neatly into the standard radio antenna plug. If this is a one off, I expect you are probably right as there were some other after market electrical equipment that had been installed at some point. But it does look to have been installed at a fairly early point in the car's life based on the condition of the undercoat. So I thought I would check having not seen this myself.

Morning Jim. I've seen straps like that dragging on cop cars. I believed they used them for a ground if someone hit an electrical pole or such. The popo might be able to offer some insight on this.
