    Tinware question

    Hi,
I would like to know if i could use the tinware from a 2.4T engine for a 2.7RS build. Are they the same or did Porsche make a lot of changes?

    Many thanks
    Paul

Engine tin? Carbs vs MFI would be the only difference. MFI has hole for belt drive and thermostat hose.

    Hi,

i mean all the engine tin and also the cooling tinware on the cylinders. The current engine is on carbs, but i'm considering setting up the new engine with EFI from here: http://d-zug.com/D-Zug-ITB-EFI-kit-12.htm. Given that, i assume the engine tinware for carbs would be more suitable, which is what i have. Will then cooling timware from the 2.4T fit the 2.7 engine?

Basically the plan is, with the exceptiom of the carbs, to port as much of the anciliiaries from the 2.4T engine to the 2.7RS (ish) spec.

If you're going with EFI then you don't need the sheet metal that clears the MFI drive belt.

I think the cylinder fins are the same for all, so the the tin that fits to the cylinders should be too.

Currently on my second 2.4 to 2.7RS conversion. The shroud will need to be an MFI one for clearance as commented above. The other parts are fine. As far as the cylinder cooling air deflectors are concerned, just make the modification reflecting what the factory did in 1977 - narrowing the middle deflectors by 25mm to make for more even air distribution over the cylinders and heads.
