    CJ Joint grease

Another thread reminded me of this:

THE ABSOLUTE BEST CVJ GREASE ON THE PLANET?

    Dupont Krytox.

CV joints used to be a constant sore spot on our race cars. Went to this and no more failures. AT ALL.
It's like tar and seems to actually coat the parts. And your hands.

Here's the rub: It's $350 a tube... and worth every penny.

I use a white/clear krytox at work for O-rings and stuff. Comes in a tub that's about a thousand dollars.

Frank, we used Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease at Swift on Formula Atlantic CV joints, Indycar tripods and FA/Indycar wheel bearings in 1990's. Worked very well in extreme applications, no problems that I recall. Not very expensive.

Our challenge is that we use the little Formula Ford joints in 2000 lb cars and 350hp.

The only thing it seems to coat and stick to is my hands. And I just make a mess.

Indycar wheel bearings at Michigan, Fontana for 500 mile races, doing 240 mph laps, is an extreme test for bearing lubricants. I'm sure Dupont Krytox has superior aspects, but Mobil 1 is a very effective CV grease for much less money.
