    74 911 v. 75 911

I'm a little confused by the engine options on the US models for these two years. If I'm correct, the 74 cars had a base model with 150 hp and a carrera model with 175 hp. There was no "s" model for the US in 74. However, there was an "s" model for Europe in 74, and that euro "s" model was the same engine as the 74 "carrera" model in the US. The carrera in Europe in 74 was a higher level that wasn't offered in the US.

In 75, there was no base model 911 in the US--all the nine elevens in the US were "s" models. Europe continued to offer the base model, however. The 911S in the US was 175 hp (i.e., the same HP as the 74 carrera). I 'm not clear on what the US carerra model was in 75.

So, if I'm right, a 75s (provided it has had its heat related issues resolved by caring prior owners) should be meaningfully more powerful than a 74 911?

    Did I get it right?

No. There was a US 911S in 74. Same 175hp cis engine as US Carrera. Row Carrera had MFI 210 hp. 75 911Shad a more convoluted exhaust and clutch cable layout, not sure but I think it was 165hp.
