Hi Chuck,
Thanks for your nice comments. (Us '73S race car guys need to stick together!)
Although I've gotten a couple of calls from friends about the article whose postmen are faster than mine, I haven't seen Randy's article yet. Gib shot me a note and one fellow Early 911S Registry '73S owner (Daniel from Palo Alto) praised Randy's photos. I'm out of town this week and really looking forward to returning home at the end of the week and seeing Randy's article and pictures. It's nice to see that a little "patina" doesn't dampen the beauty of an old race car in many of our eyes.
My best to you and all my other Early 911S Registry and RGuppe buddies.
R.
Thanks, Chuck. Photographing Richard's '73S was almost as much fun as driving it!

Congrats to Randy on a great article about Rich's true survivor 911 S pressed hard by a talented enthusiast who kept his fabulous 911S just as he had used it at track events through the years. After receiving the new Pano a few days ago, the first article I read was this one....and Randy really hit the mark. I knew most of the story details having had many conversations with Rich about his 73 S, but for me the picture painted with great photos and by weaving the story of a 30 year experience with a modified icon speaks in a loud voice:
1) These cars were close to track competitive straight from the factory.
2) A 911 S slightly modified for a successful competition history, and then kept in that form over the years by the same owner deserves respect and recognition just as it looked in the day.
In the face of vastly increasing values for a stock 73 911 S, I have told Rich many times....don't change this car...it has patina earned from being 'in the arena'...and deserves to live as a true survivor of battles on the track...along with the memories of those wonderful days of glory.
