64 or 65 Oil Tank question

I have a couple of early Copper oil tanks and am trying to learn which would be correct for a 65 911.

Each of the above tanks has the filter console with the smaller diameter mount for the oil filter threads and ONE of the tanks does NOT have a provision for mounting an oil level sending unit???

Please give me some idea of which tank would be proper for a 65 911

I can post photos if that would help.

    Thanks
    Charles

The one with the oil console is correct for a '65.

    Not so fast John...
    '64/65 were peculiar tanks.

    Charles, how about posting pics?

I think it will still work as it has the oil console and for the oil level . Any idea what this year is?

65 cars all had oil level sending units so that is the tank you use. The cars with the non-S gauges did not have a oil level gauge (similar to 912 gauge) so they either had a tank with a cap over the hole or blanked out hole for the sender (no studs and no hole). The blanked out hole was more for 68+ 911T cars.

"Please give me some idea of which tank would be proper for a 65 911"
    This was his question.

A later "oil filter console" type tank would absolutely work, but not be "proper".

Thanks guys - particularly Frank & Mark.

A friend came over today with 2 tanks similar to mine (Copper, Small oil filter threads on the filter console and (like mine) 1 WITH provision for the oil sender and 1 with NO provision for the oil sender console. We are now clear what to use!
