Competition department 85mm P&C value check

    Hello,

another boring thread with a value check, but, I found something interesting local to me and I was wondering if it could be worth something.

So, this is a set of PC, high compression ratio, bore 85mm
Cylinders have the hard chrome plating they called Chromal in the past I think.

Everything is supposed to be in very good condition.

    Comes with:

    Pistons
    Cylinders
    Rings
    pins
    A set of steel rods

These parts were fitted to a carrera 6 engine which has been retrofitted with a 2.0 set of PC

    Here are some pics

    Thank you for any feedback!

    Happy new year from France

    Hello Olvier.
    Great pieces for your project.
Do you have any serial/part numbers to share marked on the P&C ? I would start to make sure those parts are real ones, or well built and used on a Carrera 6 engine / or R.
Once done, a quality check of the parts needs to be done by a pro, and eventually the costs of the resto if possible.
Then a price check might be carried on
However, if these are Carrera 6 pieces, you know this is very rare and valuable, therefore very expensive.

    my 2 cents.

    Cheers
    Xavier

    Hi Xavier,

    thanks for the reply.

I should have writtent somewhere "assuming they are within spec"

They are not genuine carrera 6 parts, as 85mm with a 66 crank drives to something like 2.3l. The 906 were originally 2l , some cars are said to have been fitted with slightly bigger pistons (82 if I am not wrong) for hill climb purposes.

To my knowledge this set is a bit strange... But some other will probably have much more informations!

Before that set will be usable you need to see if you can still get the special rings required to seat in the hard chrome bores.

Hi Ed, thanks for the answer.

Pistons are coming with the rings. And they are supposed to have seen very little use...

    thx
