Thread: non-standard paint code "716"

    non-standard paint code "716"

I'm looking for factory color data sheets for the mid 60's. My 65 is tagged with color code 716. I think it's done in error, using the Reutter number instead of the factory color code. The attached sheets were sent to me by a couple of members. I'd like to find the page with Reutter number 716, so I could identify my car's real original color. Any chance anyone has that page? Any help would be appreciated - Mark

I do not have that code in my Reutter list. You might have to obtain the Kardex to learn more.

The Kardex shows light ivory (in german) followed by 716 with an over typed 6 as the first digit. The door post tag shows 716. The original color was the caramel color you see in the photo. It was over shot with a bronze color at some point in time

Well, in this case the Kardex is not very helpful. The caramel color is quite interesting though.

    Mark,

Roy Lock posted the Reutter mix pages on the 356 Registry here: http://porsche356registry.org/356tal...html?start=145

Unfortunately no 716 Reutter code there. Sorry! Yours is not a normal 64/65 code, it's not a Reutter code and I don't think it's another auto manufacturer code. On the positive side you've got the Kardex and the layer of paint on your car!

I see a 716 here as a GM color 'Omaha Orange' in the late 50's - early 60's. Not really a close enough match though.
