You can also always get down to Balboa Island..that place is a hoot. John Wayne lived in Balboa and its quite easy to visit his house. There is also a sweet ferry that will ferry your 911 from the island to beach spit... That is a lot of fun.

I was in Korea Town (Wilshire and Normandie), just a couple of months ago, and found some amazing late night coffee shops and bars. You won't starve if you can line yourself up with some local hole in the wall eats in the immediate area. Just head to the intersection, establish parking and spy around a few blocks in a few directions. Watch your move though.. the place is very well known for car accidents.

I also found it a bit amazing to visit Marilyn Monroe's wall dormitory on Wilshire about 8 miles due west. A very somber place but certainly worthy the visit. Its tricky to locate the front door of the cemetary, but after three tries I was able to find it. The next time, ill bring my 911 into the place. You will notice where she is buried quite easily, and you will also notice that the crypt to the left of her's is reserved for the Hef. Actually, most cemeteries in the area are riddled with decaying stars and that is a lot of fun.

The Museum of Modern Art LAMA is quite amazing... I loved it when I went into this one room and I was surrounded by Picasso's. It was a bit over the top but wow. Another time I was on Rodeo Drive, and saw Liz Taylor on a wheel chair window shopping. I walked right up and say hi... then I though, oh crap, maybe she will try to get me to be yet another one of her husbands. Not too far away, you can make a shrine "drive by" the infamous Steve McQueen's house, which is now a parking lot with gas station. You can find his address on the Steve McQueen drivers license floating around our forums.

Yeah.. European Motors is a great place to visit, but if you really want see some neat cars, get your way down to La Jolla and find Symbolic Motors. I'd call to see if they have anything worthy that trip.

    The usual museums:

MOCA and Peterson across street from each other
Absolutely see La Brea tar pits right there too. (All adjacent). Do all three as the best.

    Go eat at AOC afterwards.

Lacma very good. Downtown. Getty 30 minutes away.

Griffin observatory very good (famous James dean scene too)

Very fun to hike up to the Hollywood sign. Best go early for closer parking.

Universal studio tour fun. Skip the rest of the park. Same with other studio tours; some are better less theme parky.

The natural history museum nice, located adjacent to USC campus. Also fun to walk through UCLA campus.

    Nice drive to Malibu.
Love going to Venice and seeing the canals

The only things I've done on that list are the tar pits and Getty. It all depends on what you like to do. Myself, I like driving around the Santa Monica Mountains. Even if you are just touring it is beautiful and you will see lots of cool cars if you are there on a weekend. Jay Leno always has something cool. I'd recommend the Rock Store if you can find parking.
