SWB spring plate /SC spring plates swap

Want to have some adjustability in the rear suspension of my '67S for corner weighting......don't want plastic squeaks and rattles.

Has anyone out there cut down later adjustable SC/Carrera spring plates to SWB dimensions??

I made a paper pattern off my original SWB plates and laid it up against the longer later spring plates....the holes etc can be matched up. I put SC plates on my '69. So I have a set to also compare. I checked the cut and hole clearance of the second pivot part on the SC plate and it looks like I would have room to shorten them and maintain all of the attachment and adjustment points.

Big question...I plan on 7R rims in the rear....will the 7Rs ( with the negative offset) interfere with the BIG adjustment nuts on the SC plates?? I'm keeping stock fenders so I'm limited as to spacers.

    Has anyone done this??

    Hi Mark,
I did exactly as you described for my '67. Bought later adjustable spring plates, and had them cut on a CNC plasma cutting machine. Sized out almost perfectly - just had to weld up one little spot where the edge of a previous hole existed.

That said, the big adjustment nuts did cause some problems for me. I'm running standard deep 6 Fuchs and had a slight rub on the passenger rear tire but only during aggressive cornering (don't know why it didn't affect both tires) - a small spacer helped address this.
