Headlight buckets were sprayed silver, Badly. Rubber dog bones on the front were not GHE. flea bay one's probably.
Only one seat installed. I had forgotten my camera so only took some poor quality phone pictures. But you get the idea.

I agree that 'history' is important and even crucial to justify a high price.
But if the car has been restored and restored again to the point that none of the parts or very few of them ever went to le Mans...than I fear the car is no longer a historical artefact..more of a recreation....When I see the vin door tag and the other details posted on automobilia.fr, I fear the soul of the car is long gone and it's history too.
But you can do all the Big Events, le mans, Tour Auto, with this Car no Problem, that's why the Price is in this area.
911 S 1967 and ...
It remains a very expensive ticket to attend these events...
I seriously think that if you offered half that amount to any 911 owner enrolled in the upcoming Le Mans Classic, at least one of them would sell you their car:

This is what i was told too. There have been two cars, one entry (in May), one raced (in September 68).
He said to me:
"1968 Le Mans racer #44 was NOT #807 but #779, which is today in Belgium.
Some infos at classicdriver.com sales site are/were wrong."
Glad you confirmed it, Hugh.
I dont know if the new owner, a "discerning collector", knows what he bought.
He now has #807, but #779 aka #44 actually raced 1968 at Le Mans...
This is maybe the reason they altered #807 and today installed a 906 engine, one seat etc.
The for-sale text was wrong, and/or they might knew that #807 did not race at LM, or they did not do their homework, or..
Edited:
BTW Saw today the ST "Chiquita III", its alive., but badly altered, needs a full resto.

here you go 911 030 1108 Chiquita III (also raced at the Targa Florio and Le Mans in 1971)
GT79 at Nurburgring 1970 and and just for something different one of the earlier Chiquita's from 1968 (not sure if I or II)
