Period Correct Radio for '72 911T

One of my least favorite features of my '72 911T Targa is the modern stereo and door speakers (and exposed wires) installed by the last owner:

I was wondering if you could advise the correct radio for my car?

FYI, I have been told that the factory supplied option was the Blaupunkt Frankfurt US spec, is this correct?

    Something like this...

    Michael,

According to the Factory Accessory Folder, German - September 1971 (Model Year 1972), here is a listing of factory accessory radios for MY72:

    1. Philips Auto Casseta AM with tape (M 449).
    2. Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM/LW/SW (M 452).
    3. Blaupunkt Frankfurt US AM/FM (M 453).
    4. Blaupunkt Koln AM/FM/LW/SW Automatic (M 454).
    5. Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM/LW/SW (M 461).
    6. Blaupunkt Frankfurt US AM/FM (M 462).
    7. Blaupunkt Koln AM/FM/LW/SW Automatic (M 463).

As you probably know, lots of earlier and later factory accessory radios will fit, as well as radios originally installed in other makes of cars.

    Hi Michael,

You could try Retrosound, period looks with modern functionality.
